Oscar Brown Jr

Chicago’s Oscar Brown was a prolific songwriter, and also a poet. He was popular with the mods and wrote and recorded ‘The Snake’, which became the much loved Northern Soul classic when covered by Al Wilson.
Much of his work has a political edge to it, as well as a sense of humour.
His 1960 album ‘Sin and Soul’ is well worth a listen.
