Living With Unemployment

Further proof that what was round in the 80s is coming back worse.
Unemployment, especially youth unemployment, was a major factor for us as poets in the 80s, both in terms of living through hard times and what we writing about and who we were reading to. I still hate the cheese and wine set.

    Yes, unemployment was rife through the 80’s, especially for the young. But in my experience the DHSS [as it was then] employees treated people with respect and understood there was very little work available. These days you are constantly viewed with suspicion and can have your benefits removed for the smallest infraction and sometimes for no valid reason at all, that’s the difference
